Wedding Q&A - September
September Q&A's from Teresa Choaté, Certified Wedding Coordinator!
The Details are in the Lighting
When designing your ceremony and reception lighting is another element of décor to consider for your event. We consider lighting when designing our homes and office spaces. Restaurants and clubs do so as well to project a certain atmosphere, style and emotion to their patrons. Designing your event should not be any different when it comes to lighting.
Destination Weddings
Destination weddings are becoming more common for brides and grooms. Destination weddings are not only held in a tropical paradise, but can also be on a mountain top in Colorado or in a vineyard in California. That far away locale may seem like the answer to your wedding dreams, the reality is that planning an event in an unfamiliar area can be difficult and pose unique planning challenges.
The assumption is destination weddings are more economical than weddings held in the traditional church and hotel or reception hall. A package type wedding in Las Vegas can be cost effective. Wedding packages have various price points depending on the level services, flowers, alcohol and event space included.
Prior to selecting the destination for your wedding, do your homework! Of course the Internet is a great resource, so are referrals from friends or family that have visited the particular area. Before booking anything, I highly suggest you visit the location yourself. Internet photos can be misleading. If you stay at the venue or the property this will also give you great insight into the level of service and attention you will receive from the staff.
Have a budget in mind while doing your research. Decide if you will be responsible for transportation to the destination for your family and wedding party. Will you also be responsible for the room accommodations for your family and wedding party? While at the destination, who is responsible for transporting the families and wedding party? There are several expenses to consider prior to booking destination weddings, for yourself and for your guests.
One of the biggest questions for your destination venue is regarding vendors. Are you allowed to have your own vendors or must you select from a provided list? If selecting from the venue’s vendors list, what are the price points? We have had a bride come to us after signing contracts

Do I Need a Wedding Planner?
So often I have brides call me that have just become engaged and are so excited and thrilled with the anticipation of planning their weddings. They range in stages of where they are in the planning process. Many only have the ring, some will have the ceremony or reception site and a few will already have selected their gown. From there, the bride does not know where to start or what the next step should be.
Q and A for the Bride and Groom
We will be traveling out of the country for our honeymoon. Do I put my passport in my new married name? Lana/Waxahachie
