Meals-on-Wheels will be hosting “A Night Under the Stars” with Meals-on-Wheels on Saturday, March 28, 2009, a benefit celebration to kick off the campaign to build a new regional kitchen facility. The celebration will be held at the site where the new multi-use facility will be built, in TXI Railport. The evening will begin with a special reception hosted by the Honorary Chairman of our Kitchen Cabinet, Congressman Joe Barton. A great barbecue dinner will follow and then dancing under the stars!
The new Meals-on-Wheels regional kitchen facility will be right in the heart of our two counties. From it, we will initially be cooking over 1,200 fresh hot meals a day at our projected opening in October of 2010. The new Meals-on-Wheels kitchen will ……
* enable Meals-on-Wheels to reduce transportation and production costs by building a central location close to the people we serve,
* improve the quality of the meals we serve to our needy elderly and disabled residents,
* provide a permanent facility that will serve our community now and for many years to come, and
* meet the needs of the growing elderly and disabled population in Johnson and Ellis Counties.
We have sponsorships available for the event and tickets to the Reception and Dinner are also for sale. Please contact us for more information at 817-558-2840, 972-351-9943 or email at info@mowjec.org. The monies raised will directly benefit your homebound neighbors. You can be assured that your support will help us provide a greater quality of life for those we serve throughout Johnson and Ellis counties.
We anticipate people from all of our communities and around North Central Texas to take part in this first-ever Meals-on-Wheels event. We are looking forward to the celebration because of the awareness that it will bring to our organization, but more importantly, how it will help our needy neighbors.
