Mon, Jan 12th, 2009
Happy New Year from the Empowering Women Express Network located in Midlothian!
Are you a woman looking to build long lasting networking relationships for yourself and/or your business? Look no further than American Business Women’s Association. You may have heard of us before, but things are a changing. This national organization is re-inventing itself beginning with its own mission statement:
“To bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition.”
Our local express network, Empowering Women Express Network, has been steadily growing and learning how to form networking relationships to help each woman achieve her professional and personal goals. We are also committed to achieving recognition as a group by working with our membership to tell all about their achievements as well.
Since our network chartered January 2008, our group has celebrated the following milestones:
• Celebrated our 1 year anniversary
• Sent 3 members to ABWA District II Spring Conference in San Antonio April 25-26, 2008
• Elected our President, Daphne Brewer, as Woman of the Year for 2008
• Sent 2 members to National Conference October 2-4, 2008 in Covington, KY
• Received the Crystal Award which is presented to Express Network formations that have met the criteria for Best Practices and formed within six months with more than 50 new members
• Celebrated with member, Valerie Wilson, whose husband/business partner Steve Wilson and their company Texzon Utilities was nominated as Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2008 Hot 100 The Fastest Growing Businesses in America
Our group has also sponsored some wonderful speakers and presenters such as Sarah Zink, David Hira, Jeff Crilley, and Ramona Logan just to name a few.
There are so many other exciting ideas and programs with which our group will be involved. We want to invite, share, and engage other women to join us in wonderful new adventures.
Come join us every third Thursday of the month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. for our meetings and stay for networking until 8:30 after the meeting. We meet at the Midlothian Conference Center off of Hwy. 287 bypass across from the Midlothian football stadium.
Check out our website at www.abwa-empoweringwomen.org for more information about our group and to register and prepay for the meeting with dinner. We can’t wait to meet you!
